Thicker pool liners are more sturdy and are probable to remain longer under regular usage scenarios. The two terms most often used to refer to the thickness of vinyl are Mil and gauge. A 20 gauge thick pool liner is usually included with above ground pools. You are entitled to purchase replacement liners upto an extent of 30 gauge. Above ground swimming pool will be designed to accommodate either an overlap style pool liner or a beaded style pool liner.
Liners are held in position different ways. The overlap style of pool liner needs to be folded over the top of the pool and held tightly in place under the top railing. You will see a small portion of the pool liner if you look just under the top rail. If you want to hook up a liner to create an overlap style pond in your pool you will need to detach the top rail around it. When replacing the top rail, be sure to use the plastic clips to hold the pool liner securely in place. Beaded pool liners have a small groove or bead along the top edge. Installing a pool liner is done by simply aligning the bead within a track located at the top of the pool wall. The track for the beaded pool liner is conveniently hidden underneath the top rail inside the pool.
